NDIS Services – Art Therapy at Folk n Fable

Supporting psychosocial, communication, and emotional regulation outcomes through evidence-informed creative practice.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides individualised funding for Australians under 65 living with permanent and significant disabilities. It supports people to build skills, improve quality of life, and achieve personal goals.

At Folk n Fable, we offer Art Therapy aligned with NDIS goals and functional outcomes. We have been supporting NDIS participants since 2017 and bring extensive experience in working with psychosocial, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.. We are person-centred, neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for all participants.

🎨 What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a clinically supported mental health profession that integrates psychotherapy with creative expression. It offers a non-verbal, sensory and strengths-based approach to emotional regulation, self-understanding, and building independence, particularly valuable for those who find talk-based therapies inaccessible.

📌 How Art Therapy Supports Functional Outcomes

Creative therapies support multiple NDIS outcome domains. Our work aligns with the Functional Impact Framework used in NDIS assessments, including:

  • Communication: Enhancing expressive and receptive skills through visual language, storytelling, and symbolic expression.

  • Social Interaction: Building relational capacity, trust, and self-advocacy through co-regulation and safe connection.

  • Learning: Developing executive function, attention, and sensory integration.

  • Mobility: Supporting motor coordination, sequencing, and sensory-motor integration (e.g., through fine motor use in creative tasks).

  • Self-Management: Increasing self-awareness, emotion regulation, and self-soothing strategies.

  • Community & Social Participation: Boosting confidence, motivation and goal-directed behaviour for community engagement.

💼 Our Process

We offer a clear and collaborative therapy process:

  1. Initial Consultation: Review goals, history, and preferences.

  2. Therapy Planning: Identify functional outcomes aligned to your plan.

  3. Session Work: Weekly or fortnightly 60-minute sessions in the studio.

  4. Ongoing Review: Regular feedback and tracking toward NDIS goals.

  5. Plan Review Support: Reports and goal reflection prepared in line with NDIS reporting requirements.
